Premature babies are considered to be those born before 37 weeks of pregnancy
The smallest ones weigh around 500 grams
In Latvia, the statistics of premature births account for 6% of all births
In 2022, around 932 babies were born prematurely
Premature babies require special care conditions
They spend several weeks to 2-4 months in the hospital
In the intensive care unit, they are often alone without their mothers
Premature babies grow up to become great and well-known individuals
Octopuses are very, very important for premature babies
In the womb, they could play with the umbilical cord, sense the taste and scent of their mother. But arriving in our vast world prematurely, they are surrounded by hospital walls and their mothers are not there
Cocoons and Positioners
While inside the mother's womb, tiny babies are in the fetal position, which helps them grow and develop. The amniotic fluid surrounding the baby protects them from gravity and shields them from the external world

Covers for incubators
Covers for incubators protect premature babies from bright light and noise, creating an environment similar to the mother’s womb. This supports their development, improves sleep, and reduces stress.
Funds are being raised to make covers for the Riga Maternity Hospital, the Children’s Clinical University Hospital, and Paula Stradiņa Hospital.

Rental Space for Meetings and Support
This space will serve as a meeting place for parents and volunteers, where they can connect, receive support, and share experiences. It will host lectures and workshops for parents and medical staff, helping to improve the quality of care for little ones.

Nursing Pillows
These special pillows help parents settle comfortably with their baby during “kangaroo care,” which can last for several hours. The pillows provide a comfortable position, which is especially important when the baby is connected to monitors and breathing tubes. With your support, we can make this moment of closeness between parent and baby even more comfortable and peaceful.
